Running 13 Miles

Well, I am on my way to accomplishing a 13 mile run. When I first added this to my list, I really wanted to train for a mini marathon. But, because of the heat and the fact that there were not minis in this area when it would work for me, I told myself to just run 13 miles. That was a challenge in itself because usually, I run 3 to 4 miles and that's enough. I run a lot, especially if I am trying to lose weight, but I never go for long distances, just run often enough to make a difference. The most Sam and I had ever run was like 6.15 miles, but that was one time.

So, when we got back from Greece, I knew that this would be one of the hardest items on my list. Well, here is what I have accomplished so far...

I am very excited. I decided to see what my weekly cumulative total was and I was shocked that it was just 20.2 miles. That really put into perspective what marathon runners go through. I mean, my legs hurt, I have sweat gallons over 3 runs and I STILL have not run as much as a marathon runner would run in one day. I just cannot believe it! It's truly an accomplishment and while right now my focus is on a goal much smaller, maybe one day I can get to that point. Nonetheless, it's been a blast!
